The Woollybacks Mountain Bike Club has been awarded a lottery grant from Awards for all

With alot of hard work over the previous months Eric (Public Relations Comittee member) has put together an application for a grant off awards for all on behalf of the club. The grant will provide equipment and training for the club members and future potential members and will take us forward over the coming years.

In return we are to go to at least 10 high schools throughout St Helens giving presentations to raise awareness in the sport of mountain biking. Trying to promote a healthy interest in fitness and goals for the mountain bikers of tomorrow and their families.

The presentations will be given by club members at the schools throughout the area lasting approx 1hr-1.5hrs. We hope to give them insight into the sport by explaining the type of riding the club does, the different type of mountain biking available, taking bikes and equipment along explaining parts and uses and showing them footage from one of the clubs helmet cam dvd's. Also with a view to putting on a few open ride days where we can take 1st timers around locally.

Alot of the club members have come forward to offer their time and resources to help out giving these presentations, so hopefully they wont be as daunting as first feared. The presentations are going to be aimed at year 11 onto 6th form and invitations to their families aswell.
