Introductory Ride – Chipping 30th December 2007
Five riders turned out to ride the short but testing Chipping loop.
- Jamo
- Geoff
- Brian
- Tom S
- DaveK

The road climb from Chipping to ‘Saddle End’ was as testing as ever, highlighting the Christmas excesses of many riders.
Ride over Stanley was showing signs of the heavy rain over the last week, shown by the depth of the water crossing. The normally shallow stream crossing proved to be a bit of a water splash.

Climb from Whitewell to Whitmore through the free range hen farm, sapped the energy of most riders. All riders cleared the rock garden decent without any problems. Well done to ‘Tom S’ for showing nerves of steel for attempting this on his first ride with the club.
Muddy grass climb to the top of Mellor Knoll. Welcomed at the top by a ramblers club, who would make 'Old’ look like a spring chicken. Plenty of tuts and glares at the fresh sets of knobbly tire tracks.
Flat open moorland section was a mud bath. Fast grass decent Hareden, a pleasant relief from the gloopy mud. The steep grass section at the very bottom of this climb had some warm ups for 'Stack of the Year’.
The ford at Greystoneley had another attempt at 'Stack of the Year’. All damage was to the crank and peddle, so no riders injured.

Leisurely after ride pint in the Sun Inn, together with local delicacy of Pie, Peas and Raw Onions.
