CANNOCK CHASE 8th July 2007

Always good fun on the Chase so many cheeky bits & a great route sorted by Kiwi pity we lost a rider or should I say Lee managed to follow a completely different ride group but it was too late for him find us & the Eric/Kiwi search party had no luck so the ride was cut short missing off about 10 mile & no Black run Cry.

Quickest stack of the ride after less a min on a soft undulating ST was Russ but he was cleaned out by a recoiling branch curtiously set up by Nobby, well this should have been an omen for Russ as later on he managed a great big air & tail wag lots of style but it's all about the landing & this was all wrong  as the front end wash out to the left sending him hip first into terra ferma. Now this tail of foolish bravado was completed by Rick & Eric both over the bars at the same place ( see Johns photo of his mate  at gravel ridge )  Poor Rick landed so hard the ground shuck but this was to be end of his fun as a damaged wrist meant he had head back to base. Difficult to explain why Eric went over but I can only put it down to a lack of entry speed, good news though Smile I think/hope Mike got it all on video; Sorry Eric but SOTY. is coming your way again Ouch.

All three stacks were watch by us all, MTB entertainment Live! you can't beat it.

The route was again cleaverly lead by Kiwi & looks like we'll be going back there before the year is out as we all enjoyed the variety of ride diciplines which all the newer members completeted & I'm sure their ride technique will have improved for packing-up with the Woollies.

I thought the ground was in a reasonable state but the twisty bits in the trees were wet & boggy in places to which Kiwi was very supprised about but it has been a wet old few weeks; today was sunny & hot with a nice breeze to cool in after the fire road climbs.

Best Rider; Tom as he showed us all no fear & completed the plank ride with ease & was very stylish over the notorious yump.

Thanks to the club for organising a great day out & I'm sure the next ride here will again be supported by; Kiwi, Eric, Nobby, Russ & his mate Embarrassed, Geoff, Mike, Dave, Tom, Lee, Rick & Paul; again.
