  • Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Woollybacks Mountain Bike Club.

The club started with a handful of enthusiasts in 1992 and currently has 200+ male and female members living all over the North West of England.

There are Club Rides at weekends and every Thursday evening, and the Ride List tells you which rides are coming up. Weekend rides take place on a Saturday or on a Sunday; most are full day rides, but there are also shorter morning rides as well. Our most popular areas are the Peak District , the Pennines, the Lake District, North Wales and the Yorkshire Dales. Thursday evening rides are shorter and use trails in the St Helens, Wigan, Merseyside, Rivington and Delamere.

All Club Rides are led by a ride leader, and a drink and a chat generally feature after the ride.

The club has built up a wealth of routes over the years, and members have access to a store of GPS routes from our website.

The club also organises two weekends away each year to trail centres in Scotland and Wales.

Club Rides are organised via our website in the membersí forum, and members can also use this to arrange their own rides, discuss mountain bike related topics, and seek and give advice.

We are a welcoming and sociable club and make every effort to look after each other on a ride. The club is not a business, but is run by riders for riders, with a committee to keep the club on track and serve the needs of its members.

Follow the link above to access the public Forum where you can introduce yourself, ask any questions, and find out how to join the club by doing a Newbie Ride. There is also a link to contact us by email.

To join the club you must be 18 or over, and have access to your own transport. Membership costs £15 in the first year which includes an I.C.E. (In Case of Emergency) sticker, and £10 a year after that to help cover the running costs for the club.

We look forward to seeing you out on a ride with us.
