Well, I have mentioned a few times about sorting out my old bike but always spending on the Five!
Thought the other day "sod it, gonna do it" and got a basic SS kit from ebay for £22.50 inc, 15T cog, spacers, and tensioner.
A few other things need a little attention on the bike to get it rolling again.
Namely, loose headset, possible creaking BB, knackered pedals, mediocre brakes and maybe tyres.
Got new brake shoes and ordered some 520 pedals.
Headset and BB will be fettled for now, probably just need greasing and adjusting anyway.
Sounds bad but this bike is still original from new (1995ish) and the only thing I have changed is a new inner tube after a flat, so pretty good going considering.
So hopefully the Purple Claud Butler will make an outing soon as a Canal Cruiser
It was dry so flew over the trail.
Had a good blast until my lungs were burning, then had another blast until I felt sick
Got the 16T today so may give that a go over the weekend on a flattish ride.
Rare and awkward (read impossible ) to get an adaptor to ahead.
However, I think by sheer luck I bought a stem that doesn't exist.
Paul at Thattos told me ahead stems to fit 1 1/4 headset don't exist, but the KCNC one I bought is!!
Will probably have to make a custom adaptor though.
Anyone got any steel tube 28.6mm OD with 1.5mm wall thickness : praysmilie :
Fitted my old riser bars for now to raise the position a bit, hope it helps.
I am selling the Purple Power but I will definitely be getting a replacement SS in the Future, most likely an Inbred.
(I think I am becoming a Piestalker )
