  • Twist grips

    Hi guys.
Just switched my trigger gear changers to Sram 10 speed twist grip shifters because of thumb problems I'm 73 etc.
I'm finding it very hard to twist up through the gears.
The bike tech who fitted the grip shifters says the stiff shifting will ease off after a few rides.
    Any ideas guys.

    Paul sore thumbs.

    Hi Paul
I've not had grip shifters for many a year but I don't recall them getting any easier with time. It sounds to me like you need Di2 electronic shifting. Expensive but effortless.
    Good luck
    Paul

I've found that easy switching is usually down to good quality inner and outer cables and sharp-bend-free cable routing. That's with thumb shifters anyway.

Have a good look at your cable routing and try to ease any bends/corners out as much as possible, I'm assuming the twist shifter itself moves freely if you were to disconnect the mech cable and is well lubed?
